Bispebjerg’s new psychiatric building features a completely new indoor environment with Wavecare’s nature images.
New Psychiatry Bispebjerg brings together the current psychiatric treatment departments from Bispebjerg, Frederiksberg, Gentofte, and Rigshospitalet. The new psychiatric building, which opened in November 2022, focuses on creating a treatment environment that meets psychiatric patients with the utmost respect and dignity in a healing and restorative setting.
At Wavecare, we have supported Bispebjerg’s vision by using nature images as wall decorations in many treatment departments. Underused hallway areas have also been incorporated into the sensory experience. In addition, soothing Wavecare TV programs have been installed on the televisions in patient rooms. This new environment aims to provide patients with a safe and ‘homely’ setting for their hospitalization.
Psychiatric Center Copenhagen, which is part of New Psychiatry Bispebjerg, envisions that when individuals arrive at the emergency department, everyone should feel expected and welcome - whether they are patients, relatives, staff, or visitors.
Soothing surroundings are designed to support patients in the vulnerable situation they find themselves in when they arrive at the psychiatric emergency department and to enhance their well-being during their hospitalization.
The nature themes in Wavecare can help evoke positive memories of experiences in nature or allow thoughts to flow into the theme. The settings can both encourage activity and social interaction and provide opportunities for calm and retreat.
It's not only psychiatry that benefits from a calming indoor environment. Wavecare's nature images also help create soothing surroundings in delivery rooms, hallways, communal areas, and patient rooms in hospitals.
