The new emergency department at Bispebjerg Psychiatric Hospital features a completely new indoor environment with Wavecare’s nature images as wallpaper.
At Wavecare, we have supported Bispebjerg’s vision of making patients feel welcomed and comfortable by using nature images as wall decorations in the various treatment areas and calming Wavecare TV programs on the patient rooms’ TVs. The new environment is intended to provide patients with a safe and ‘homey’ setting during their hospital stay.
Since November 2022, the new emergency department has been in use at Bispebjerg. The design more carefully considers the vulnerable situation that citizens and patients face when they need urgent help and arrive at the emergency department.

The new environment is intended to provide patients with a safe and ‘homey’ setting during their hospital stay.
There is also a sensory room with an associated courtyard in the emergency department, designed for the citizens and patients who are in the worst condition and need to calm down. The room is designed with Wavecare – a combination of dimmed lighting, soothing music, and calm nature scenes displayed on the wall from a projector – a large mattress, bean bag chairs, and a punching wall for emotional release.
