Mental Health Care and Sensory Interventions in Focus: Bridging Research and Practice

This theme day highlights current challenges in mental health care and offers professional perspectives on how we can strengthen the connection between research, clinical practice, and the environments we create for people living with mental health conditions. The programme also explores how innovative approaches can contribute to improved wellbeing and quality of life.

Protac and Wavecare develop sensory-stimulating and calming solutions for a variety of healthcare settings, including mental health care environments such as sensory rooms and quiet rooms. During the event, you will have the opportunity to experience our solutions firsthand and learn more about the work of both Protac and Wavecare.

The theme day is aimed at healthcare professionals working within mental health care, as well as other professionals with an interest in the topic.

Meet Three Inspiring Speakers

Niels Bilenberg

New Perspectives and Trends in Autism Diagnostics and Comorbidity (Physical Health and Sleep)

Niels will present findings from a study examining the full spectrum of physical health conditions associated with autism. The research compares the early occurrence of physical illnesses among autistic individuals with that of non-autistic individuals. The study has important clinical implications, highlighting practical considerations for supporting children undergoing autism assessments and their families.

Merethe Lønne Kjær & Nana S. Troelsgaard

Sensory Integration as Culture and Practice – A Research-Based Approach

How can sensory integration and sensory rooms be implemented as targeted, evidence-based interventions within psychiatric care? How do we create a culture where sensory awareness becomes a natural and integrated part of treating mental health conditions—and what does this look like in practice?

Join Merethe and Nana as they share experiences and insights from the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen, demonstrating how research can be translated into meaningful clinical practice.
